British households quoted fixed rates of up to £3,500

Desperate measures are in place to try and tackle the increase in heating costs. The UK has been tremendously impacted by a rise in energy costs covering electricity and gas. Many households are facing the worst price rise resulting in some energy suppliers quoting fixed rate terms of up to £3,500.

The reason for such a dramatic increase is a combination of the inflated energy prices and the minimal amount of energy suppliers willing to transfer households onto fixed rates or even new customs. With the uncertain times, many energy suppliers are uncertain of the costs that may soon occur so are quoting excessively high numbers for the “fixed rate” guarantee.

Reports suggest that Scottish Power’s fixed-rate price for the average household will be a rate of £3,500. This compared to the current cap below £1,500. Many low-income homes are set to struggle even further.
